Gemma Tibbatts, resident paralegal at Regan Peggs Solicitors, has been named Paralegal of the Year in the 2019 Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards.
The most prestigious industry accolades in the Midlands, the Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards recognise and celebrate the very best of the region’s legal talent.
The Paralegal of the Year award celebrates individuals who exemplify the value that a paralegal can bring to a legal team, and who have contributed not only to their own firm’s success but also on the wider professional stage.
Gemma’s success reflects her dedication to professional development, both within our firm and as an active member of Birmingham Law Society’s Student Committee and the Birmingham Trainee Solicitors Society (BTSS), as well as her passion for removing the barriers to diversity within the legal profession – to which end she acts as a volunteer mentor for the Social Mobility Foundation (SMF), a charity supporting disadvantaged 16-17 year olds through facilitation of access to further education and graduate-entry jobs.
In bestowing Gemma with the coveted title of Paralegal of the Year, the judges said:
Gemma makes a very significant contribution to the running of her firm, case work and staff development. She is keen to help develop student aspiration for careers in the law; she helps them overcome barriers to entry to and progression within the law. Gemma is ambitious for the future, including her intention to continue to promote social mobility.
We are extremely proud of Gemma for what is an exceptional achievement, and delighted that her hard work, dedication and tenacity have been recognised with the very well-deserved title of Paralegal of the Year 2019. Congratulations, Gemma!
